Lucas Vets News and Events
As many of our loyal clients will be aware the Lucas Practice celebrated 25 years in 2010. In fact hundreds of you came to our 25th anniversary party, and helped raise part of the £8,000 which will soon be building a clean water supply for a village in India.
We have done our best all that time to be the best; to combine kindness and veterinary expertise. Mostly you tell us that we do quite well. Perhaps because of this approach, we have grown like mad, so that starting with just Sue Lucas and her husband Steve, her mother as receptionist and one Veterinary Nurse all working in her converted garage, we are now eight vets, twelve nurses and support staff to make 26 people!
We Have Joined The Highcroft Group
The veterinary world has changed a lot in that time too, and last year Sue and Joe (partner with Sue in the practice for the last ten years) decided that they wanted to join up with a bigger organisation to make sure we could keep up our high standards.
We looked at a number different ways of doing this, and then by happy accident heard that the Highcroft Vet group, based over in Whitchurch, had wanted to join up with us for a long while! (They knew our reputation!) This seemed perfect to us, as we have known Richard and Robert who run Highcroft for years, and they very much match our way of doing things.
So that’s what we’ve done, and from March this year, Lucas Vets in Longwell Green, though nothing and no-one has changed at the practice in Longwell Green, have been a part of the Highcroft Group.
What does this mean practically? It’s mostly behind-the-scenes stuff, to do with better arrangements with suppliers, laboratories and the like. We also believe that they will be able to fund and get planning permission for that bigger building that we’ve been trying to sort out for years. The point, for you our loyal clients and us who work here, is that Lucas Vets will continue to be the place you trust to bring your beloved pets for the foreseeable future, maybe even until we celebrate 50 years!
